Meet Aye-Aye, the love-child-gone-wrong of Gollum and a Cornish pixy:

The Aye Aye

Now excuse me while I have nightmares.

33 people are discussing,

  1. Amanda says:

Holy mother f*ck. (Look, I read your rules, and self-censored! :P)

    Photoshopped? Or real?

Reply: I’m thinking it’s real. I originally found (him? her?) .. it .. from this page: 25 of the world’s weirdest animals. Beware, some of the animals are just as disturbing!

Also, for future reference, you may swear if it’s just one or two words in an appropriate situation… I’m not about limiting self-expression. ;) The rules refer to excess swearing, as in every second word is “fuck” or “shit”.. You know those types! I just can’t stand it.

That is a really disturbing creature! As are the rest of those animals/plants on that page!

  3. Rilla says:

    Ewww!

But it’s not the yuckiest out the list. Axolotl reminds me of Pokemon. Star-nosed mole’s gotta be the the most “EWW” with the Hagfish following behind closely.

    Thanks for the nightmare(s)…

Reply: I know! I seriously considered featuring the star-nosed mole as well.

  4. Amber says:

Goodness gracious, that IS what my nightmares are made of. Look at it! It looks like a little mutant baby.

Reply: That was my first thought too – like what a premature baby would look like if the Devil mated with a rat.. or a very hairy elf.. But then I noticed the resemblance to Gollum and Cornish pixies.

*ponders* Just how sick am I if I actually find that cute?

Reply: I don’t know, but you’re sort of not alone – once I got over the initial shock, it sort of.. grew on me. So while I wouldn’t go as far as “cute”, it has this strange sort of cute appeal in a very weird way. :P

Maybe there was a threesome with Dobby at one point? Looks like Dobby’s ears ;)

Reply: Hmmm… you’re right, it does appear that Aye-Aye inherited Dobby ears. Good eye!

Haha, I believe my Anthropology class last year mentioned that critter. Thankfully I don’t think I ever saw an image of one… until now :P

There was also some weird primate that has a super long finger nail (on just one of their fingers) to dig in logs for grub. That was the weirdest animal I’ve ever seen. OH WAIT, I think that’s what the Aye-Aye is (just read the description). This one must be a baby. The adults are much creepier looking!

I saw that thing and thought someone had done Photoshop work to create the image. Since it was originally in a page full of real animals, though, I guess the thing is real. Yikes, it’s ugly.

Better than the hag fish (on that same site). The description of that one made me shudder.

I actually think that it’s kind of, just kind of, cute. It’s got such big ears and it’s so small. What can I say? I like animals even if they look strange.
