From the Vancouver Sun’s article on the Top 100 surnames in the Lower Mainland:

#77 – Wood (664 entries)
An English and Scottish last name, Wood almost always denotes someone who lived in the woods, or who worked as a woodcutter or forester. However, a secondary origin for the name Wood is a nickname for a crazy or violent person, an interpretation derived from the Middle English word ‘wod’, meaning mad or frenzied.

My names never appear on these things. Now, which are you? Do you have family members that have worked as woodcutters or should we simply take note that you are a crazy and violent person? :P

Reply: Well I don’t have any wood cutting family members… ;)

That´s interesting. The second one is just wacky, it does explains everything! (or where you referring to the first option? Haha)

My last name is supposed a billion different things, I don´t know who to believe anymore. Maybe it doesn´t mean anything and people make up meanings :P

    Yep, explains everything haha.

Wow, it goes to show how Asian Vancouver has become. In the top 10, 5 are Chinese, 1’s Korean, 1’s Indian, and 3 are English. Wow.
