Looking good, March!
The month isn’t even over yet, but it’s already quite apparent that March has been the month of doing things I thought I could never do. First it was the 5K run in 36 minutes and 49 seconds. Next it was the dance competition (and bringing home my first ever trophies!) I told everyone I couldn’t “wouldn’t” do. And today? Today I ran twenty minutes. Straight. WITHOUT STOPPING OR WANTING TO DIE.
You probably won’t understand the significance of this, and that’s okay. But I do. I remember the girl who couldn’t make it halfway around the track without dying – but tonight I was the girl who ran a total of 68 minutes, running 10, 15, 20, and 10 minutes straight with 1 minute breaks in between. I did it.
If I keep this up, I could actually achieve world domination before I turn twenty-five.
Now, if only I could take my driver’s test…

I need to get up my lazy ass and move my body as well. I’m trying to do sports twice a week, so that’s already an achievement for me :)
March 20th, 2008 at 12:47 amWhen I’m done studying and earning money I HAVE to join a club – anything. Can’t wait :D
You’ve done more in one month than I have in the whole of 2008, nice one!
March 20th, 2008 at 2:17 amImpressive! I certainly can see where you’re coming from, since I need to do that myself. XD
After all that, I’m sure you can conquer the driver’s test with ease. I mean, that vs. dancing, in public, at a competition?
Keep at it, and good luck in your future endeavors!
March 20th, 2008 at 7:52 amI actually don’t think I’d mind if you ruled the world, Chanel. =)
March 20th, 2008 at 11:25 amVery impressive!
I wait patiently for the news that you’ve conquered Everest. ;)
March 20th, 2008 at 5:33 pmMarch has been a good month for me, too. I’ve really gotten into shape and I’m actually noticing it.
Yay for running without stopping or wanting to die!
March 20th, 2008 at 7:33 pmDude. I totally get the significance of it. I can’t run 2 minutes without getting stiches and yea, wanting to lie down and die, so running 20 minutes straight or doing a 5k marathon is pretty damn amazing to me. And I can’t even gather enough balls to take dancing lessons. So, congrats!
March 22nd, 2008 at 7:57 pmCongratulations on the dance competition!
My fastest 5K was 31 minutes… well… more like 31:30 if I’m being honest. But I typically take about 35-37 minutes to run them these days. I need to get back at it!
March 23rd, 2008 at 12:06 amprops to you. I hate running.
and you cant achieve world domination by the time you’re 25 because that is totally my original plan.
perhaps I might allow you to be Vice World Dominator.
March 24th, 2008 at 9:10 pmI’m very impressed, Chanel! And I really admire your determination to actually plan these things and do them. :)
March 25th, 2008 at 10:37 amOh, I’m so horrible at running. I remember when I actually used to take PE, I ran a nine minute mile and was so proud of myself.
So, yeah, you’ve definitely accomplished something here.
March 29th, 2008 at 8:57 pmLol congrats I’m so envious! I think I’ve managed to run 3k without stopping before but that was already a couple of years ago. And I was an even better runner when I was 11 or 12. So I’m quite the opposite of you. :( Don’t you feel that it takes up a lot of time though? Doing a 30 minute run, come home, have shower, then pretty tired for study etc.
Reply: I’m actually cutting my running down to once a week, because our group run is now hovering around the 1 hour mark as training increases. In the place of my runs, I’m doing time on the stationary bike – and since it’s stationary, I can work on the computer, watch TV, listen to lectures, etc… things I do already. I was at a conference last weekend and I spoke to a 57 year old man who does SEVEN MARATHONS a year (almost at a sub-3 time!) – he said he only runs once a month, but cycles (stationary bike) for about 7 hours a week, every week. It builds muscles around your knees and it’s WAY easier on your body in terms of way less impact, which was a concern to me.
March 30th, 2008 at 1:04 amThat’s impressive! I normally wanna die after about 10 minutes on the treadmill. LoL I am always admiring and respecting anyone who can run for 15 minutes or longer. ;) Keep up the great work!
May 5th, 2008 at 1:02 am[...] of you might remember what March of last year looked like. It was pretty crazy too—full of stuff I thought I could never do, but managed to [...]
