The week of mourning
November 13th, 2008This will be the last post I write at the age I currently am, but will not be when I wake up tomorrow. Being the optimistic person I am, I have referred to this past week as “the week of mourning”. Seeing those words on Facebook and MSN has alarmed a couple people and brought about concerned questions like, “is everything alright?” or, “what happened?!!”—but worry quickly fades into amusement when they find out the only thing I’m mourning right now is the loss of my youth.
Don’t scoff. It’s a legitimate reason to mourn. Although, some people may not agree…
“don’t mourn, you’re hot … and now you’re legal, so everyone else is rejoicing too”

I’m actually quite excited though, and not just because I’m legal (again), but because this weekend is packed with insane birthday goodness. And hopefully enough cake and fake wine to get me fake drunk and almost diabetic, because that would definitely constitute as a rocking good way to celebrate turning 19 for the second year in a row.
(Or so I’ve been telling most people; but if you think adding 2 to 19 will get you my real age, think again. It’s a mystery right up there with the riddle of the sphinx, since even some of my closest friends can’t always remember how old I am. To some, forever 13. Others, 21. Suffice to say, its somewhere in that range—besides, my mother always told me a true lady never reveals her age, so I’ve been misleading people on that fact ever since I turned 15. And look, this message in parenthesis just got long enough to warrant its own paragraph!)
I’m thinking I’m going to have to come up with new and exciting ways to top the previous year of my life. Perhaps I shall learn how to not crash into trees. A cure for cancer is already in the works and I’m about three years away from world domination, so those are out… but any other suggestions?

Well, now you could start working on solving the world hunger thing…
Happy birthday! :)
Reply: Thanks! :) And I shall add that one to my queue.
November 14th, 2008 at 7:25 amHow old are you? I’m so curious now!
Happy birthday… hope you have a great one. =)
Reply: Thanks!
November 14th, 2008 at 2:10 pmAnd to answer your question… I’m both too old and yet not old enough. ;) Don’t you just hate it when people give you answers like that, though? Hahaha.
Happy birthday! I’m forever 19, according to myself.
Reply: Thanks! It’s a great age. :)
November 14th, 2008 at 4:08 pmHappy Birthday!
I’m 25, and I’m actually happy to tell people my real age. I enjoy getting older… Don’t know why but it’s just a comforting thing.
Reply: Thanks. :) For the most part, I don’t actually mind getting older… Although I have my private “freak out” moments, I’m mostly apathetic towards it.
November 14th, 2008 at 7:10 pmI believe you can achieve world domination within the next 12-18 months if you just focused on that…. haha.
I know how old you are! *wink.
Reply: Hahaha, of course you do—so shhhh! ;) … And I probably could, but unfortunately, I have more pressing issues to deal with. :( It’s on the top of the list, though! :D
November 15th, 2008 at 12:31 amHappy Birthday Chanel!
I have a friend who was planning a funeral-themed birthday party for when he “became of age…” to mourn the passing of his childhood.
Hope you had a good one =)
Reply: Thanks, Lizzy! :) And wow, a funeral-themed party? I don’t think any of my friends would come to that. :( Hahaha.

Reply: I imagine he would have, haha.
