Horse on a truck

This was spotted among the other bizarre sights on our road trip to Salt Lake City. Am I the only one who finds this really strange, and maybe a little funny?

(Other info of note: It was windy, and pieces of hay kept flying out and hitting our windshield as the horse was taking chunks out of it to eat. And then my mother commented on how, from behind, this horse’s behind looked like the behind of a fat women who’s skirt was blowing the wind.)

i must say, that’s the first time i’ve ever seen a horse on the back of a pickup instead of in a horse trailer. i wonder if that’s even legal…

Reply: I really don’t think it is, actually. :P

Rofl - I always refer to Sugar’s blanket as her “dress” or her “skirt”.
And yeah, that is definitely NOT legal - and totally made me cringe. Plus I can’t help but wonder how in the world they got that horse to load into a pickup. It’s hard enough to get most horses to load up a ramp into a roomy trailer …

What an odd picture. I wouldn’t imagine it’s exactly safe to carry a horse like that, but I don’t know.

The picture might be funny, but I hate, hate, hate when animals aren’t treated carefully and as they deserve. Had I been a police officer right there, I would have confiscated the whole thing and kept the horse to myself. I hope the horse is safe now.

For a second, I thought that there could have been someone wearing a skirt lying on top of the horse or something :P

Wow that is an interesting picture. While I have not seen a horse transported in the back of a pick-up before, I have seen a horse with whatever-you-call-it on before.

    Reply: Definitely a weird sight!

Nobody was looking after the horse when it was at the back of the truck? That’s kinda dangerous…it might just turn around and jump out into the road while the truck is moving. Hmm.

Reply: I guess not.. Although the horse was definitely tied to the truck, cross tied I think, so he/she couldn’t turn around or jump.

I grew up near a farm. This method does NOT make the horse feel comfortable. That’s the point of “fence” inside the horse trailer. And, of course, it is illegal what you saw in the picture. I just hope the poor horse is okay!

    LOL at your mother’s comment!

Reply: I can imagine! I only hope he was transporting him/her a short distance and not a long one. :(
