And we’re supposed to be good at hockey
November 5th, 2008From the front page of The Vancouver Sun:
The Canucks are the longest-running melodrama in our city. In 37 years, they’ve never won a Stanley Cup and have been to the finals only twice. Yet we, the fans, have never lost the faith. Forever Faithful—The Canucks Movie pays tribute to us, their diehard boosters.
Iain MacIntyre
I’m no hockey fan or sports genius, but even I know enough to realize that playing for thirty seven years and never once winning is a little sad, and not in the boo hoo kind of way, but more in the “wow, this hockey team is an embarrassment to our city” kind of way.

The Leafs are worse. I actively root against them, which makes everyone else in the city mad at me! :P
Reply: Hahaha oh my! Going against the crowd… sounds like something I would do. :P
November 5th, 2008 at 9:45 amI think it’s sad too.. but GO CANUCKS GO!!!! Can’t jump on the bandwagon just because they continuously suck… must… support… our… team. & Their management is an embarrassment to the country.
Reply: It is. :S But yeah, I guess when you see the entire city trying to support them (and the buses displaying “GO CANUCKS GO” instead of the route, haha) to sort of get into the (pity) spirit. :P
November 5th, 2008 at 11:22 amYea, but I always have a soft spot for them, whether they suck or not. :)
Reply: Hahaha aww… You and the rest of their fans!
November 5th, 2008 at 3:12 pmShhhh, if you say anything negative about the Canucks out loud, they lose their confidence and their playing goes down the shitter! Hahaha.
But yeah, I too have a soft spot for the Canucks, even if they’re doing horribly. And I worship Luongo. I’ve been known to call them “Team Luongo” from time to time … :-P
November 5th, 2008 at 5:21 pmhahahaha~ It’s okay…..at least they aren’t giving up!!
November 5th, 2008 at 7:33 pmI always cheer for my home team, even if they suck. Luckily, with the Ottawa Sens, that’s not a huge problem ;) At least they made it to the finals two years ago!
As for the Canucks, what can I say? Maybe you’ll have better luck one day :P
November 5th, 2008 at 8:04 pmGo, Flyers!! *ducking* Seriously, I can relate to your commentors’ feelings. We are quite a football town. Yet, the Philadelphia Eagles made it to the Super Bowl game only twice and lost both! How embarrassing! And, no, the World Series don’t count!
