In which Chanel is pregnant

If you suddenly found yourself pregnant, not married, not dating anyone, and ready to give birth, what would your first thoughts be? Perhaps, who is the father? Or maybe, what is going to happen to my future? Something sensible, certainly.

Apparently, my first thoughts would be: “Natural birth or epidural?”

Last night, I found myself in a rather tricky situation. I was suddenly pregnant and ready to deliver, with no recollection of how it happened or who the father was. Furthermore, since I was quite literally ready to deliver (I was already in the hospital), I was panicking, because why hadn’t I done my research on this sooner? Where were the people who could give me information about my options? What on earth is going on? Why don’t I know anything? And seriously, WHERE IS MY IPHONE SO I CAN RESEARCH THIS?

I woke up extremely disturbed, as you can probably imagine. I also woke up with the strangest resolve to do more research on natural births, because I hate going into things without first doing my research.

I wish I could tell you this was the strangest dream I’ve ever had, but I can’t. However, it begs the question: What is the strangest dream you’ve ever had, and did it involve babies falling out of your uterus?

WHAT DO I DO NOW?

If I told you my strangest dream, I’d have to kill you, gorgeous.

Strange. My friend and I were sort of discussing something related to pregnancy all afternoon after she… well, some tricky stuff is going on with her right now. :S

I have FAR too many strange dreams. In high school I had a recurring dream about WWII where all my guy friends were in the war, and I was left at home, but I could tell how they died and they all died. Urg.

    This post grabbed my attention..

I tend to dream of giving birth regularly each month while I’m ovulating… many many odd ones. You aren’t alone :)

Reply: You know what’s so odd? I remember reading this about you somewhere – you might have written it on your LJ way back when – and thinking I might be ovulating because of that! Funny what the mind remembers.

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve dreamt of offspring flying out of my nonexistent uterus.

    IT INVOLVED A VAMPIRE.

In truth: my dreams are rather bland because of my fleeting memory.

Reply: LOL! That sounds like one weird dream!
My dreams are non-existent at lot of times because I don’t remember them … but every once in awhile, I’ll get pretty vivid and/or memorable dreams that stick with me. Like this one.

My strangest dreams involve marriage to random strangers. Last night, I was conscious while dreaming due to sleep paralysis … so I spent most of that dream trying to wake up.

That is really interesting. What a strange dream. I must admit when I read the title I thought you were really pregnant though! :P

To answer your question, I have a lot of really strange dreams and I tend to remember my dreams a lot. Just as a random example, the other night I had a dream that included my friend’s wedding, being awkward, super awesome light shows with kites and sparkles that only I was able to see amidst a crowd of people, huge doors that led to nowhere, searching for my baby that people took away from me (I don’t even have a child but apparently I gave birth and didn’t know about it and I had a 1-year-old). I then found the child and saved it from a rabid bear.

Ahh, the old biological clock ticking away. Any day now you’ll be trolling Craigslist for a sperm donor. Does that sound about right? High five!

Something I’ve also heard a lot about recently is home birth, with the help of a midwife… something you might want to think about in your next dream.

Everyone has plenty of strange ones, but I most often think back to the one where I saw a very pleasing arrangement of about 5 highways crisscrossing one another. The sight filled me with an amount of joy one wouldn’t expect from seeing highways. Perhaps it’s some sort of sign?

I think if I had that dream, I’d be traumatised. See I already don’t ever want to have kids or give birth to kids, to have a dream like that would definitely nail my decision into the metaphoric coffin.

I think I’ve only ever had one dream in which I had a child, but it wasn’t even the actual birth; I was just holding a baby in my dream and it was mine. No idea who the father was because I wasn’t dating anyone at the time, no idea how old it was. I suppose it should have been frightening but it was fairly harmless.

It kind of surprises me that I’ve never had a dream about giving birth, because I’m so excited to eventually have kids. Maybe it’s just my mind’s way of trying not to turn me off of that XD

I can never remember weird dreams when someone asks me about them. Most of my dreams are wonderfully weird. And I think there has only been one dream, that I can remember, where I was pregnant.

My strangest dream involved me also being pregnant. The biggest problem was that I had never had sex before, so I was trying to figure out how I was going to explain my Virgin Mary situation knowing no one would believe me.

I cannot tell you how many weird dreams I have had. This is eventually going to be a blog post on my site, actually!

    1. Killing Freddy Krueger with a butter knife.
    2. Dreaming about dinosaurs and stuff like I’m in Jurassic Park but hadn’t seen anything about dinosaurs in years.
    3. My nephews legs broke off at the knees and I carried him home in 3 pieces.
    4. Playing basketball and getting bit by the cop dog.

Those are the top ones I can remember recently.

A plea for people to consider the ethics of purchasing maternity clothing. Really, if people are willing to bring a child on this planet, you’d better ensure the planet is in a good state! So please try and consider, for example, the cloth your items are made with, the human rights of the factories where they’re manufactured and the ethics of the clothes retailer. Oh, and try to share, rather than throwing away. Thanks!!!!
