“I think it’s time to do laundry”, dog says.

One of the assumptions people make about me that I find most amusing is the one that involves me being an uptight “clean freak”. You know—one of those crazy people who keep their living spaces spotless and have an aneurysm when you don’t use a coaster. Sounds lovely, really, but it’s not me.

I usually tend to wait until I’ve run out of clothes to wear and/or can’t walk through my room to do laundry/cleaning. The two are basically synonymous to each other, as they almost always get done at the same time. Unfortunately, neither get done nearly as often as they should.

The best thing about laundry/cleaning day—aside from seeing my floor again, which truly is a cause for celebration in itself—is being able to sleep in freshly laundered bed sheets.

Ever since I bought these 400 count plum sheets from IKEA last winter, I have probably spent more time in my bed than anywhere else, and in case you think I’m lying, I will willingly admit that it is 11:30AM on a weekday and I am still in bed.

But it doesn’t stop there. Eventually I do get out of bed; sometimes to eat, sometimes to migrate to a solid surface, sometimes to leave the house, quite often in that order—but as soon as I get back, I peel off my outside clothing and head right back into bed to get back to work. Or read. Or watch TV. Or eat dinner. It’s multipurpose, really.

Yes Internet, my bed is really that comfortable. Some describe laying in it as “floating in midair”, and others just refuse to leave. Barrier to productivity, you say? Not so. I might still be in bed at 11:40AM, but I’ve been up and working from my bed since 8:30AM this morning. One of the many perks of working from home, you see: freedom of workspace. And today, that happens to my bed.

I should really do laundry more often.

I have a duvet cover almost the exact same colour as your plum sheets. It is lovely.

Since moving into a dorm with communal, card-operated washing machines, I’ve become as conscious as possible of letting the weekends I go home coincide with the times that I most desperately need to do laundry.

Reply: I never used to buy dark sheets, but I must say, these plum sheets are amazing.

And that sounds like a very smart idea… hopefully you go home often enough! :)

Wish I could work from home! I love to lounge around in lounge clothes! My friend jets the work on her job. When she’s home, she gets up and walks to a nearby coffeehouse with her laptop on her arms and works from there.

    That’s what I call a luxury life ;-)

Reply: Aww for sure, that sounds awesome!

Reply: Thanks! I was never particularly a fan of dark bed sheets before, but I am now. :)

Good lord. I NEED some of those purple sheets. Seriously, I’m in love.

Reply: I read somewhere that purple is a hot color this season; it shouldn’t be too hard to find something similar! :)

That is a really gorgeous shade of plum. Just wow. And yeah, I’m not the worlds most fabulous laundry person either. My problem is folding though. Tossing clothes in the washer and dryer is very convenient, its the folding and putting away that gets the short end of the stick. There are baskets of clean clothes in various states of folded lining the wall in the bedroom right now. Lol. Maybe later…

Reply: Totally know what you mean. I seem to have trouble at *every* step of the way … At least your clothes make it to the washer! :P

    Hello,
I apologize for the inconvenience. I came across your website from sparkley.net awhile back and was wondering if might consider hosting someone as a subdomain? I need another website and was just curious if you might consider? I wouldn’t take up much space, just a layout and that’s it. I would host any photos on another server, like photobucket. Anyway, thanks for your time. All the best

I’m bad with laundry too! I only bring myself to do it (grudgingly, because the freaking washer/dryer are in the basement of the building) when I am all out of clean knickers… which takes a surprisingly long time because I have a LOT of them.

I’m sure you’re just ecstatic to learn that, but now you know.

Reply: Actually, the no-more-clean-underwear rule is what primarily motivates my laundry days too! Hahaha.

    Those are awesome sheets, lol!

I’m the same as you, my bed’s really comfortable too, and I also spend a lot of time sitting on it doing…stuff. In fact, I’m sitting on it right now! :D
