“I walked into Starbucks and they. were. everywhere.”
“They who?”
“The macs. Everyone was on a mac.”
Snorts. “They all had Macs?”
“Every single one. Their little apples were glowing and everything.”
“No Windows? Anywhere?”
“Well there was one blue-glowing Dell in the far corner…”
“But how can that be?!”
“They’re lonely people, those Mac users.”
“I hope you don’t turn out lonely.”
“Thanks, dad. Thanks.”

Mac users tend to be soo immersed in their Macs that’s why it seems that way haha. My bff and I bought our Macs just days apart so we wouldn’t feel bad for the other for not owning one lol. When you get your Mac, beware of sleepless nights :P

December 11th, 2007 at 1:21 amHAHAHA!! That’s awesome. If I had a Mac, I’d sit in Starbucks with it just to show off my sexy mac-ness. Seriously.

December 11th, 2007 at 6:52 amAround here, Macs used to be so rare. Now in my Univ, specially where there is good wifi reception Macs are everywhere! I don’t know how to link it to loneliness, but yeah, I also hope that you don’t turn out lonely XD

December 11th, 2007 at 11:26 amI want a Mac so bad. I’ve always wanted one. I want to be part of the cool crowd too, lol. Someday I will own one. Hopefully someday soon rather than someday in the far off future, haha.

December 11th, 2007 at 8:10 pmI was wondering what was up with the stereotype of the Starbucks-drinking wanna-be artsy Mac users. I suppose it might actually be true.

December 11th, 2007 at 10:52 pmDid you read this article? http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=macs_cant
I think it’s very true and funny. I don’t know what so special about Macs. Come on, people, it’s just a computer.
The article captured what some of the commenters said here… :-o

I like that link :)

December 13th, 2007 at 6:35 amThat never makes sense to me. Leaving your warm snuggly home just to sit in a loud obnoxious environment that stinks of coffee just to show off your laptop.

December 15th, 2007 at 9:04 pmYour dad is watching out for you :P
I must be some sort of insane social maniac then. Goodness, Windows has been my OS for years… and years… and years. It’s gotten quite mundane, actually.
Or maybe my “I-WANT-A-MAC” impulse is kicking up again.
I must stay loyal :)

December 22nd, 2007 at 8:46 amSounds like a conversation my Dad and I would have. My brother has a MAC and I’m lost on it. I’m so used to PCs.

December 22nd, 2007 at 9:23 pmThat certainly is a funny way of looking at it! If I had a Mac I’ll never bring it out in public since I’m paranoid like that.
TBH though, I’ve only seen one person with a Mac in a Starbucks. I think I need to go there more often XD

December 23rd, 2007 at 12:07 amMac users are rich people with higher social status. :P That’s a general stereotype. I’d rather have a Mac than be popular.
(Reply)
December 24th, 2007 at 9:59 pmMac users aren’t rich people with higher social status. o.O And we are not lonely either! :P
I own a Mac, and some of my friends and family do too, and we are certainly not rich. I’ve seen rich, and we are not it, lol. Our PC’s just burned one day, so we decided to try out something else; since fixing the PC would cost almost the same…

December 29th, 2007 at 11:36 amFor some reason I find the “glowing apples” rather… no double meaning?
I would so like to switch from Win to something else, but I my work requires me to use Windows… so I’m in this comfortable zone with “oh I couldn’t do it anyway”…
But I’m not entirely sure how the lonely got out of this? I mean… wouldn’t the Dell guy be the lonely one in this example?

December 29th, 2007 at 5:08 pmThe guy who interviewed me today goes “so I see you’re a Mac person. I use a Mac too”. And it was some little connection, like I know your running Leopard on your old as hell Mac, but that’s okay. I mean, I do have a MacBook.

January 9th, 2008 at 10:56 pmhahaha that’s funny. I’ve never been to a starbucks where people were on computers, but at barnes and noble everyone has a PC.

September 1st, 2008 at 12:45 amSo true… my local Starbucks is the exact same way!!! And guess what… I just went and bought myself a MacBook Pro after being a loyal PC user for over a decade.
