CHANELWOOD.COM - The internet domain of Chanel. Quirky commentary on life, book reviews, movie reviews, articles on fashion, photography portfolio and more.

I am a writer, photographer, entrepreneur, storyteller, and student based in Vancouver, B.C.

For the first week of my life, I had no name. Doctors and family referred to me as “baby girl”, a term of endearment which has not been used in reference to me since. later, I am mostly referred to as “Chanel”, the name my parents eventually settled on. (I also have three—yes, three—middle names, of which I rarely speak of and almost never share.)

I am Canadian by birth, half Fijian, quarter French, quarter British by blood and a closeted American at heart. So far, I have been mistaken for Spanish, Persian, Arab, Filipino, Native, Hawaiian, East Indian, European, and Valley girl.

Things you should know: I’m terrified of fish, moths, butterflies and Abercrombie models. My favorite thing to do on a Saturday night is grocery shopping. I’ve been to three continents and six countries but if you gave me a free ticket anywhere I’d probably take it straight to Disneyland.

In my “free” time, I can usually be found doing other things (but not more than one at once, because I can’t multitask to save my life): cooking or baking, cleaning up the mess I made cooking and baking, taking photos, playing piano, eating, sleeping, singing loudly while I walk my dog in semi-public places after dark, pretending to design websites, spending time with my family, or dancing.

I can do a lot of things; some well and a couple very well. I thrive best in mild climates with ample rain. I fall asleep easily in warm cars with responsible drivers behind the wheel. I’m an extrovert with a low social threshold; if I don’t get enough alone time, I might try to stab you with a rusty spoon. I’m infinitely interested in all things The Internet.

I love to hear from people, especially ones that read my blog: hello@chanelwood.com
